New Handwoven Scarves!

Hi all,
Because life keeps throwing curve balls, I was surprised to see that I haven't woven anything new in 3 years, when I checked this summer.  Shocking!  I do find time to spin  but knit design has firmly been on the back burner – I sumply don't have the large swaths of time that I used to have to work on desgns.

But, I've been finally keeping my little loom as busy as I can, these past few months. To wit, I’ve just finished uploading 27 new handwoven scarves to my Etsy shop!  It doesn't sound like a lot, for 3 months' work, but those curve balls take  up much of my time.

This new collection of scarves are woven with a variety of soft, snuggly yarns, including baby alpaca, superfine merino, kidsilk, my favorite wool/superfine alpaca blend, and handspun Falkland.

The palette for this year’s collection is soft and calming, inspired by our seaside locale, with lots of blues, white, some pinks, beige, and silver with chocolate and charcoal to contrast.

The patterns are all plaids (popular this winter season), from traditional houndstooth, as in my Shadow scarves,

to what I call a modern plaid, which is a 1/2 color repeat in the warp, woven 3 ways, sequentially, as a palindrome,

or with side stripes, for lots of options!

Creating charts is one of my favorite tings to do – I could chart all day long, but that doesn't actually get anything made!  As I wove my way through various charts, a few became my favorites, so I've grouped them in the Etsy listings, instead of creating a separate listing for each scarf.

All my scarves bear my washable cork labels.  I usually ship within one business day, with free postage, to simplify checking out.  Depending on the fibers and colors used, they can suit women or men, and would make lovely, handmade gifts!

I try to keep my loom warped, so more scarves will be forthcoming!

Have a Happy Autumn!
